New AIG Zone 6 Visits Ayade, Applauds Cross River Homeland Security And Safety Law

The new Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6, Abubakar Marafa has applauded the Cross River State Homeland Security and Safety bill recently passed into law.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the governor, Senator Ben Ayade in his office today, the AIG said “I feel its mandatory for me as AIG to pay homage to the governor of my Zonal headquarters.
“The Nigeria Police can’t work alone, we are meant to rally round the governors in the zone for support. He reiterated that without the help and co-operation of government, the police cannot function properly”
He commended the governor for signing into law, the Homeland Security and Safety bill which he said will greatly help in curbing crime in the state.
Marafa noted that “wherever there are humans, there must be crime. I am here to inform His Excellency of my willingness to assist the Commissioner to fight crime in the state.”
Responding Senator Ben Ayade, reiterated government’s commitment to fighting crime and explained that the Homeland Security and Safety law will serve as a component for intelligence gathering to further assist but not compete with the police.
Governor Ayade further explained that recruitment will based on residence/area because of their knowledge of the terrain which makes them better positioned to monitor day to day activities of potential criminals.
“Supporting the police is key to every effective government, I am inspired that I have an AIG that is honest; because of your honesty and openness, Cross River State will be more favorably positioned to provide the required support.”
“I must commend the Cross River State Commissioner of police for providing one hundred and twenty men everyday during the period we stepped up our security campaign”
He thanked them for their visit and advocated a more intimate working relationship with the police.
